Mental Health Week

13-19 May 2019

 

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health and mental health problems and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all. Mental Health Week at CUH will have a different focus to national theme of body image, due to tailoring the campaign to the needs of staff at CUH. We will be focusing on looking after your mental wellbeing at work. Your health is our number one priority and it should be yours too. By making small changes and looking after yourself, you can improve your overall wellbeing at work, which in return will improve the quality of care we deliver to patients. 

A range of free events will be happening throughout Mental Health week at CUH. Including, Mindfulness workshops, Meditation sessions and a Mental Health talk.

 

Events:

 

Mindfulness Session: Recharge & Refocus  

As part of Mental Health Week there will be two 30 minute mindfulness workshop sessions running on the 13th May by Tiny Pause. 

Running at 1:30PM till 2PM in Alice Fisher Leture Theatre.

The first session is Recharge & Refocus.

In this mini 30 min session learn;

  • One attention training (mini mindfulness) technique to recharge and de-stress
  • How to create the space for a daily High Quality Pause to strengthen resilience
  • One technique to help Break Negative Thought Loops

 

The Benefits:

Manage difficult thoughts more effectively to reduce distraction and feel calmer.

Create a little space each day for higher quality mini breaks to recharge willpower.

Create a moment for yourself to find a little perspective. 

You are welcome to bring your lunch with you.

Mindfulness Session: Strengthen Resilience 

Running at 2:00PM till 2:30PM in Alice Fisher Leture Theatre.

 In this mini 30 min session learn:

  • Understand exactly what resilience means and why it’s important for you, your team and family
  • Learn the three steps to strengthening resilience and practice how to ‘reframe’ a difficult thought or situation
  • Plan to create a simple daily habit to help you self-manage stress to cope and recover more effectively

The Benefits:

Cope and recover from stress more effectively
Handle difficult situations and circumstances less reactively
Enhance perspective to feel increased confidence in your decisions

 No need to book just turn up!

 You can attend both sessions back to back if you wish.


Mental Health and working life, a talk by CUH staff with lived experience.

Meet Time to Change Champions Chris, Elisse and Lily, and hear their experiences of mental health while working. Attend to learn ways to support your own mental health as well as the mental health of others at work. There will also be a Q & A at the end. Please note this will be a safe and confidential space for all.

Running on Friday 17th May at 7:30AM-8:30AM in Alice Fisher Lecture Theatre.  Completely free and no need to book, just turn up!

Come and enjoy the benefits of Mindfulness of Breathing Meditation or heart-warming Loving Kindness Meditation within the buzz of working life! Running every week.
